Online · Bad handwriting is not a barrier

Letters that
look consistent.

Calligraphy isn't handwriting — it's drawing letters slowly, with rules about pressure and slant. People with famously awful handwriting are often the fastest to learn it.

The programs

Four programs, ten minutes of drills a day

Consistency comes from repetition of basic strokes, not from attempting quotes on day one.

How it works

Drills, photos, corrections

Ten minutes of drills a day beats an hour on Sunday. And your practice sheets tell a coach everything.

Free first session

Thirty minutes to see where you are and what tools you actually need.

Daily drills

Ten minutes, the same strokes, until they're consistent.

Photograph your sheets

Flat, good light, the whole page. Imperfect ones are the useful ones.

Written feedback

Within 48 hours: what's drifting, why, and the drill that fixes it.

How we work

A coach, not a supply shop

Calligraphy has an expensive-tools problem. Beginners buy four nibs, three inks and a light pad before learning a single stroke, then blame the tools.

Artilo sells nothing and takes no commissions. Start with one brush pen and printer paper. We'll tell you when a dip pen is worth it — usually around week ten, and not before.

Frequently asked

The questions we get most

My handwriting is terrible.

Genuinely irrelevant. Calligraphy is drawing letters slowly with rules; handwriting is a fast motor habit. They barely overlap.

What should I buy to start?

A brush pen and standard printer paper. That's it, for the first month. We sell nothing and get nothing from any brand we mention.

I'm left-handed.

Very workable. There are adjustments to paper angle and pen hold, and we cover them properly rather than treating it as a problem.

How long until it looks good?

Most people have consistent basic strokes in about a month of daily ten-minute practice. Elegant work takes longer — this is a skill built on repetition.

Can I do wedding envelopes for money?

Eventually, and it's the most common first paid work. The commissions program covers pricing and deadlines. We don't promise clients.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. No contract, no minimum term. Access stays open until the end of the month you already paid for.
